Look - Learn - Build
Three hours north of Toronto, you'll be leaving your car behind as you boat, hike, and canoe into your secluded, unspoiled, lakefront campsite. We'll provide all your equipment for a 3 day, 2 night stay as you become better acquainted with how to:
- wire your own solar power
- build a tiny house from free materials
- pump, store, heat, and filter water without electricity or gasoline
- construct a super efficient wood stove (rocket mass heater) from natural materials
- make a solar dehydrator
- build a self-watering garden, and much more...
We will also be doing some short hikes to identify edible and medicinal plants, and depending on the size of the group be constructing a bio-sand water filter, earthen oven, or both.
Our off-grid eco-retreat is the perfect setting for some R&R. So when you're done your day's workshop, you can swim, hike, fish, forage, canoe, and kayak, all from your picturesque lakefront campsite.

About Your Hosts:
Seven years ago, Angela and Kyle bought a vacant 50 acre bush lot, used an axe to make a small clearing, and camped on the property while building a tiny house with hand tools out of stuff they found on the 'free' section of Kijiji. They went on to use clay, sand, and granite from their land to build a rocket-mass-heater for warmth. The two then built a bio-sand filter to make the lake water potable. As the years passed, they've managed to construct things like a hydraulic ram pump, water tower, a custom solar electrical system, self-watering gardens, composting toilets, and much, much, more.
Angela and Kyle live, work, and play at their off-grid property, making a living by hosting eco-tourists at their incredibly beautiful, handmade lakefront campground.
