Due to some large and unscrupulous data consumption at our local marina, the wi-fi was cut off in the early summer. It was quite convenient for us to use the marina's internet in the past, as it was only a short 3 km trip for us. Now, with it no longer available to us, we only get a chance to get online when we do our grocery shopping (every 6-8 weeks or so), which is just over a 100 km trip each way. Sorry for the lack of posts.
Without dwelling too much on the summer that never was, let me just say this: it rained. While the cool rains of August kept a lot of would-be campers and cottagers away, the reptiles and amphibians thrived, and the blueberries gave us two crops. One from as early as the first week in July, and another which is still fruiting even as I write this.
September saw the arrival of our first client. A great time was had by all, and we couldn't have asked for a more wonderful guest. Thanks Barb!
The rest of the fall will be spent adding to our pile of fire wood for the long, dark winter ahead, once it stops raining that is.

Above: Spring Peeper
Above: Blue Spotted Salamander
Above: A chance encounter with the increasingly rare Ring Necked Snake. WOW! I have been looking for this species for 30 years, and have only ever found two examples. This was a HUGE thrill for me.
Above: The view from our back porch as the colours change.
...And finally, the Kampmann family generously donated some signage to us that we think sums up our situation here on Clear Lake quite nicely:

Thanks again to everyone who helped to make another unforgettable summer here in the bush. Wax up your cross-country skis and come see us again in a few months. Let's do some ice fishin'!
