The highlight of the last few months for me, has been the variety of wildflowers. Since May the woods have been alive with colour. The shores of Clear Lake and the surrounding woodlands have been bursting with orchids, trilliums, irises, cherry blossoms, and countless other vivid blooms.
Construction seems to be a ceaseless project, and keeping with our philosophy of sustainable 'people power', rather than gas engines, we continue to haul our lumber in by canoe and by foot; or as others call it, "the hard way".
Wildlife viewing has been exceptional as well. Notable critters include a Red Spotted Newt, Pileated Woodpecker, Jefferson Salamaders, Ruby Throated Grossbeaks, Grey-Black Tree Frogs, and a rarely spotted Blanding's Turtle who decided to lay eggs in our yard.
After nearly a year of living on Clear Lake, I am still gobsmacked by it's beauty, all day, every day. Truly this is a place of wonder that has to be experienced to be believed.
Hope to see you here soon,
-Kyle
